When Forever Changes – Siobhan Davis: If you want a complete heartbreaker of a novel, please pick this up. Gabby and Dylan have dated since they were teenagers. Now in college, Gabby thinks Dylan is her forever guy until he does the unthinkable and shatters her heart. Gabby has to learn how to pick up the pieces and carry on with her life, but there are so many curveballs that get thrown her way. I was completely invested in the story for all the characters and I’m still recovering from this read.
My Evil Mother – Margaret Atwood: A quick read that’s told from a daughter’s point of view. She explains how she grew up with a mother who is a little eccentric and has the ‘telltale’ signs of being a witch. The entire community thinks her mother is strange and even more so because there isn’t a man in the house. As the daughter grows older, she continues to describe how her relationship with her mother evolves and there’s a little twist at the end that I wasn’t expecting.
Her Perfect Family – Teresa Driscoll: I haven’t read a thriller in a while and picked up this one. Gemma Hartley is shot during her university graduation and subsequently falls into a coma. As the investigation begins to find the shooter, the Hartley family learns secrets about each other that threaten to tear their happy unit apart. I loved the twists and turns throughout this book – there were a few potential suspects that kept things interesting. It is told through multiple points of view, but I struggled a little with switching from first to third person, depending on who was telling the story.
The Bigamist – Mary Turner Thomson: My sister recommended this to me, so I picked it up. This is a real-life story told by Mary and how she was charmed by a man online before meeting and marrying him. Unknown to her, this man is already married and has multiple children with different women. The entire way through this book there were moments I could see why she would believe his lies and other times I was thinking no way can she trust him this much. I literally can’t say much about this because you have to read it to believe it.
